In Justice League of America #15 (Nov. 1962), the JLA battled stone giants from a parallel earth. The giants, which the heroes discovered could not be touched, looked just like the stone statues on Easter Island. What is the significance of this?

Justice League Companion: When designing JLA #15's cover, perhaps artist was inspired by Jack Kirby's cover to Marvel's Tales to Astonish #5 (Sept. 1959), which also featured ambulatory statues. This cover was recycled when the issue's interior tale, "The Thing on Easter Island," was reprinted in Where Monsters Dwell #24 (Oct. 1973).
