Baldy Pate was the main villain in "Lois Lane -- Convict," published in Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane #6 (Jan. 1959). A villain named Baldy Pate was also featured in Beware the Creeper #1 (May-June 1968), by Steve Ditko and Denny O'Neil (as "Sergius O'Shaugnessy"). This is a rather unusual name and we are presuming this is the same character in both stories. Steve Ditko certainly could have been familiar with Bill Finger's story from a decade earlier and decided to reuse this obscure character. Conceivably, however, the two different villains named "Baldy Pate" were intended to be different characters or were written by authors who were unaware the name had been used elsewhere.
